December 2003

December 31 - Happy New Year's! Man, I just discovered some notes and graphics for a completely unstarted game. The files are literally four years old! Crazy how time flies!

December 29 - Development of Super Tux, a game I started writing almost 4 years ago, and then never got around to working on later, has sprung back to life, thanks to a bunch of folks around the world! The mailing list traffic has become overwhelming! ;^)

December 23 - A new release of Tux Paint is imminent has been made!!

December 16 - I contacted a local computer magazine to see if they'd be interested in an article on Open Source software. I've whipped up one covering the excellent OpenOffice.org, which explains the philosophy, and makes sure readers know this stuff runs on Windows, too! (A common misconception!) I'll post if it gets accepted.

December 15 - Over two weeks later, I finally put some photos up from my high school reunion!

December 14 - Couldn't sleep; noticed someone asked for help with cropping out background from some astronomical photos he took (thousands of them!), so I wrote a little C program that might help him: pnmthreshcrop.

December 13 - Clobbered with a cold. Fortunately, it didn't hit me until after I did my presentation in Sacramento on Thursday. Speaking of that, I got it mentioned over at DesktopLinux.com. Ditto for my recent talk on kid's software.

December 8 - Remembering that I now have a DVD/CD burner, I decided to try out some of my games for Dreamcast, since I've honestly never played them yet! So far, I got Vectoroids running.

December 8 - Last week I did a presentation at my Linux User Group on Kid's Software for Linux. As mentioned last month, I'll be doing a talk on Linux and Open Source for a PC computer user group in Sacramento. I just finished my presentation slides and put them online!
